A short recap of AMAA 2018
On 11th and 12th of September 2018 I held a presentation of our paper “Towards a Privacy-Preserving Way of Vehicle Data Sharing – A Case for Blockchain Technology?” at the 22nd International Forum on Advanced Microsystems for Automotive Applications (AMAA 2018) in Berlin. The automotive conference organized by VDI/VDE hosted talks by representatives of some automotive big players like Bosch, AVL, Infineon, TomTom, Vedecom, and Ideas & Motion, talking about autonomous driving, electric vehicles and vehicle data services. Furthermore, related challenges for reaching the next SAE levels and ongoing research projects have been shown, highlighted by a demonstration of Easymile’s Automated Shuttle Bus.

Paper at European Transport Conference 2018 (Dublin)
It was a pleasure to present at the European Transport Conference (ETC 2018) and to come to Dublin again. Our paper entitled “The Vehicle Data Value Chain as a Lightweight Model to Describe Digital Vehicle Services” is now being reviewed for inclusion in a Special Issue of the journal Transport Research Procedia.

Update: Because the topic didn’t fit perfectly to the Special Issue of Transport Research Procedia, it was rejected and will now be submitted to WEBIST 2019.

Many thanks to co-authors Andreas Festl (Virtual Vehicle) , Alexander Stocker (Virtual Vehicle), Gernot Pucher (TraffiCon), and Michael Fellmann (Univ. Rostock)!

Paper at ECIS2018
I am happy that our paper entitled “A RESEARCH AGENDA FOR VEHICLE INFORMATION SYSTEMS” has been accepted for presentation by the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) 2018, located in Portsmouth, UK this year (June 23rd – 28th 2018).
Paper now publicly available
As part of the Springer Nature SharedIt initiative, our article “Quantified Vehicles” in the Journal of Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE ) can now be accessed publicly (full-text view-only version), by using the following link:

Quantified Vehicles: Videos explaining the issue
In parallel to my PhD thesis and our work in the projects AEGIS and SCOTT, there is another EU project worth to look at, working on the unexcavated treasure of vehicle data: the automat-project (coordinated by Volkswagen AG). They have now uploaded two nice videos in order to illustrate the problem and their solution in an easy way. Although I don’t fully support their solution (there is no need for an OEM backend), I think the videos show the potential of this topic and our work: weiterlesen
F2F Meeting with SCOTT partners
At Jan 24 our project partners Efi, Emmanuel (both SICS, Sweden) and Gonzalo (JIG Internet Consulting, Spain) visited us in Graz for a face2face meeting regarding our joint development of a quantified vehicle application scenario in the SCOTT project. Many thanks to my colleagues Andreas, Alex and Manfred which held the meeting doing a great job (I just popped in for the photo..), because I am on parental leave (“dad month”) at the moment.
